The Consumption and Appropriation of Archives in Contemporary Korea

REMOTE

REMOTE designed the publication for Art Archives, a project of the Seoul Museum of Art Research Lab examining the consumption and appropriation of archives in contemporary Korea. The book gathers curatorial research by Eunsung Cho, Kayoung Kim and Hyunji Kim, with photography by Haemin Jung, into a single edited object.

The subject sets the terms. A publication about how archives are used and reused asks its own design to take a position on ordering, sequence and access, on how material is held and how it is read. REMOTE's role was to give that inquiry a form that reads as an archive in its own right rather than a catalogue about one.
